Identifying and grooming prospective entrepreneurs among students
Government College of Engineering established the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (ED Cell) to identify and groom prospective entrepreneurs among students and motivate them to start their own ventures/start-ups, creating self-employment opportunities.
The ED Cell has associated with EDII-TN and DST for conducting awareness camps and other activities to promote entrepreneurship among students of all departments.

FAB Lab/Makers Space for Innovation and Technology Development
The Directorate of Technical Education, Higher Education Department, Tamil Nadu has selected this institution for establishing FAB lab/Makers space named as INNOVATE TN LAB among the Government Engineering colleges by M/S Forge, Coimbatore. The lab operates for a period of 5 years from Academic Year 2023-24 and is funded by TANSIM.
Comprehensive training program for faculty members to become innovation mentors, including 15 participants from GCE Tirunelveli.
Students from 5 departments developed prototypes addressing real-world challenges.
Teams developed Proof-of-Concept and MUP solving challenges curated from Smart Cities, Tirunelveli.

Two Protosem teams from GCE Tirunelveli were selected for the International Innovation Festival 2023 organized by CAPE Institute of Technology in collaboration with UN-SDSN (United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network).

The team emerged as winners out of 80 teams at the International Innovation Festival, with their efforts appreciated by dignitaries including the Registrar of Anna University and Mr. Jebamalai, Principal Advisor for United Nations Innovation Development Organization (UNIDO).
